Keyboard Program

The Keyboard Department at Rowan University is an exciting place for young musicians seeking BM and MM degrees: the performance and academic opportunities are exceptional for all areas of keyboard study. A degree from Rowan will ensure broad comprehensive training for a student in a performance-intensive environment.

Degree programs incorporate performance, pedagogy and professional skills to cultivate students for a professional life in music. Graduates may seek careers as artist/teachers, public school music teachers, concert performers, collaborative pianists/accompanists or arts administrators and will prepare MM candidates for admission to DMA programs nationally. Rowan pianists have completed DMA programs at Eastman, Indiana, University of Maryland, University of Cincinnati and University of Houston, among others. Our graduates now hold academic positions in universities throughout the United States, major positions in arts administration or are successful teachers for K-12 music programs or in private studios. A fully international student body creates a dynamic mix of pianistic traditions at Rowan.

The Keyboard Department includes study in piano, organ and accordion, and each curriculum is tailored to the specific needs of each area.

Rowan's internationally recognized faculty fosters academic and artistic excellence, in addition to creating an environment that is both competitive and supportive. Private lessons are taught with individual student goals in mind, and direction in academics and career pursuits are a priority for the entire faculty. We take pride in the reputation of our keyboard faculty for not only their distinguished concert careers, but also their dedication as inspiring teachers and mentors.

Student pianists at Rowan have distinguished themselves nationally and internationally, having won prizes annually at the state level in NJMTA.
