Rowan Strings

The strings program at Rowan University provides students with an excellent environment to hone their skills in instrumental performance or education. In addition to weekly lessons with our internationally-renowned faculty, students have a wide array of performance opportunities. They can participate in a range of instrumental ensembles and chamber groups, as well as master classes from prominent visiting musicians.

Rowan's string faculty are devoted to their students' continued development, and students are given the opportunity to participate in professional productions in the area whenever appropriate. Alumni have gone on to have successful careers in both performance and education: graduates have continued their studies at such distinguished institutions as Julliard, Mannes, and Temple, and former students are actively working as performers and educators.

The department offers a bachelor of music in performance, bachelor of arts in music, and a bachelor of music education, as well as a masters in performance. For non-string majors, we offer a music minor in strings. The department also makes numerous scholarships available to students that demonstrate technical proficiency. Audition dates and requirements can be found here, and detailed program requirements can be found in the academics page.
