Undergraduate Programs

Reflective of current trends in art-making, Rowan's Department of Theatre and Dance educates young artists in the integrated practice of theatre and dance to prepare them to enter professional performance companies. The Department offers a B.A. in Dance and a B.A. in Theatre with five specialized tracks: Acting, Musical Theatre, Design/Technical, Directing and Pre-Teaching. Our programs focus on developing students' contemporary performance practices, resourceful collaboration, multi-disciplinary scholarship, and imaginative leadership. The liberally based B.A. programs require students to have a broad spectrum of experience in theatre and dance history, theory, literature, and technical skills. Our Mainstage productions manifest and exemplify our core values as artistic practitioners and offer essential opportunities for students to practice and physically research contemporary performance. We also encourage students to seek out cross-disciplinary experiences, internships, and curricula in other programs on campus, regionally, and abroad to prepare them as independent artists and entrepreneurs.
