BREAKING NEWS! A Devised Musical Theatre Cabaret celebrates and mixes 1980's music, local and national television news broadcasting, and topical issues to examine, entertain, educate and empathize with our community, both within Rowan University and beyond. Using lyrics and melodies of memorable songs from the “Me-First Decade of Greed,” our task is to see how music from the 1980s speaks to, reflects, and informs current experiences in 2020.

Our sitcom-sized bite of devised deliciousness is a first for us. In 2020 we rehearse on Zoom, record music on Garage Band, videotape on iPhones and laptops, as well as television and film cameras. The brilliant editing team will mix and refine in Final Cut Pro, iMovie, and more. We are adjusting to the circumstances of our new decade, all while practicing physical distancing, podding, and wearing masks when necessary.
