More About Us
- RYSO students work with Sue On, and the ensemble is for string players primarily in grades 5 and up. It is composed of young musicians who have played for at least two years and have completed book one of a method, Suzuki or others. Members can read music and play one-octave scales in the keys of D, G, and C. No audition is required.
- RYSO Requirements (Seating Placement ONLY)
- Playing Level: Ability to play fluently in first position and beginning to shift into higher positions.
- Major Scales:(even separate bows) G, C, D – 1 or 2 octaves F — 1 octave
- Students SELECT a 1-minute excerpt of a piece that demonstrates your best ability with your instrument. Consult with your private instructor to ensure that you have enough time to learn the piece, both technically and musically.
- A reminder this audition is only for seating placement and not an entrance audition. All who want to join RYSO will be accepted!
To schedule an in person audition on June 5th, visit: go.rowan.edu/ensembleaudition. The deadline to register is June 1st!

- Where: Wilson Hall, Room 153
- Rehearsal Dates: 1/15/2023 - 4/29/2023
- Performances: December 4, 2022 & April 29, 2023
- Concert Tickets: Visit go.rowan.edu/boxoffice to purchase tickets for all ensemble concerts!
- Cost: $205 Spring 2023 Tuition due at time of registration. First Rehearsal Jan 15
- A payment plan option is also available for full year participation. All students are required to make tuition payments through the Marketplace online system. Credit Card, Check, or Money Order (NO CASH) officially.
- A 10% discount is available for students taking private lessons through Rowan CMS. Please contact Rowan CMS for more details.
- Rehearsals are scheduled to take place in person at Rowan University.
- Please be advised that we reserve the right to change the format of offerings without notice based on the Federal, State and Local guidelines related to the COVID-19 global health pandemic.
