Empowerment through songwriting
Teaching Songwriting: A Tool of Empowerment in Lessons
Through this workshop, teachers will learn how to effectively guide students in writing their own melodies, developing harmonies, lyrics, and arrangements for songwriting. The workshop will also focus on ways that songwriting can help students with learning differences to contextualize new skills and flourish in their musical development. We all have unique stories to tell. Join us in learning how you can guide your students on a path of empowerment through songwriting.

Retune, Rejuvenate, and Restore Your Imaginal Orchestra
Music and Imagery for Musicians
As musicians, our relationship with music is vital to our professional identity and the quality of our work. Over the course of the pandemic, we have had to dramatically shift how we engage and share music with others, often in ways that felt very disconnected and fragmented. This workshop will introduce participants to ways to restore your relationship with music through multisensory imagery, and to meet three specific needs for your self-care: Relaxation, Diversion, and Exploration.
This workshop will be held in Wilson Hall, Rowan University.
This workshop (3 clock hours) will address the following CBMT Domains:
III.A.4.e Utilizing health and wellness approaches to inform clinical practice.
III.A.4.r., t., aa To achieve therapeutic goals for active listening, employing music relaxation and/or stress reduction techniques, and providing receptive music experiences.
V.B.12 Supporting one's own mental and physical health to ensure professional effectiveness and competence.
