Rowan Opera Company

Professor Marian Stieber, Director

The Rowan Opera Company is a dynamic group of performers who love the art of acting and singing in a staged production. Each year, the opera company presents two productions, a fall scenes program and a full-staged opera in the spring accompanied by the Rowan Symphony Orchestra. Repertoire performed ranges from Mozart and Bernstein to Strauss and Gilbert and Sullivan and includes performances sung in English as well as some scenes in the original foreign language. If you enjoy being on stage, here is an opportunity to continue that experience while creating a character through music and constume and collaborating with other students, faculty and staff.

There is no audition required to be a member of the ensemble, however solo roles are cast by audition at the beginning of each semester. Prior choral experience is helpful, but not required.

Rehearsals take place 3x per week
*If you would like to participate in the chorus/ensemble only, you only need to attend Monday rehearsals

  • Mondays 6:30-7:45PM (large ensemble*)
  • Tuesdays/Thursdays 2-3:15 (solos, duets, quartets, scenes)

To join, register for "Opera Company" using CRN #43541
The course can be taken for 1 credit or no credit and counts toward the Artistic Literacy requirement.
