Summer Music Camps

We regret to inform you that due to the Corona Virus circumstance, our summer music camps are suspended. If you have already registered and paid for the camp tuition - please check your email for refund options. 
 
We also want you to know that we are in the process of developing a Future Music Major Workshop virtual program this summer. The program will be designed to explore the many facets of the RU Music Department through Master Classes, virtual rehearsals, individual lesson opportunities with Rowan faculty, live broadcasts, and community hangouts.
 
We encourage you to check the Rowan Music Department website for regular updates on the camp offerings and structure, as well as schedule and registration procedures. 14th Annual Rowan Jazz Camp

The Rowan Jazz Camp offers students from southern New Jersey and surrounding states a chance to study with some of the region's finest jazz educators and performers. During this dynamic five-day camp, students will learn big band and small jazz combo techniques as well as improvisation and other musicianship skills necessary for today's jazz students and tomorrow's performers.

A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve you your space after applications is submitted. Payment in full is due June 1, 2020.

Rowan University Band Camp

The Rowan Summer Music Camp offers students entering grades 8 through 12 the opportunity to study with some of the region's finest instrumental, choral and orchestral educators and performers. During this dynamic five-day camp, students participate in large and small ensembles, experience challenging quality repertoire, and have lessons with world-class faculty. Participants develop their musicianship and improve their technical abilities as they perform in master classes, attend music theory sessions, and see recitals from guest artists.


Rowan Choral Vocal Camp

The Rowan Choral Vocal Camp offers students an opportunity to study with fine choral and vocal technicians and perform quality repertoire in large and small ensembles. Throughout the camp, participants will improve their musicianship skills within a supportive environment. Campers also enjoy performances and masterclasses by camp faculty.


Fifth Annual Rowan Composition/Music Theory Camp

The Rowan Summer Composition/Music Theory Camp offers students in grades 7 through 12 a fun opportunity to learn and experience music composition and theory. The camp is designed to expand the composer's toolbox by introducing compositional techniques, investigating orchestration and learning the skill of analysis. The Composition/Music Theory Camp runs at the same time as The Rowan Summer Band Camp and The Rowan Vocal Camp, allowing the Composition/Music Theory Camp two great resources to observe and learn from. Students will bring their primary instrument and will be composing and performing for each other. The Camp concludes on Thursday with students performing their pieces in a '90 Second Speed Concert' which is always a lot of fun for students, parents and audience!

The Rowan Composition/Music Theory Camp has a capped enrollment of 15 students. We will honor paid registrations in the order they are received.


Rowan String Camp

The Rowan String Camp offers students the opportunity to be immersed in a world of music making, guided by a distinguished international faculty. During this five day camp students participate in daily orchestra rehearsals, master classes, chamber music, and special topic sessions, capped every evening by a faculty recital.


Rowan Music Industry Camp (Music Business and Music Technology)

The Rowan Music Industry camp offers students a world-class learning experience on music technology and key aspects of the music business. Topics covered include audio recording, editing, MIDI sequencing, audio mixing, music industry overview, record deals, music publishing and music marketing.

The camp will be lead by BS in Music Industry Professors Mathieu GendreauMichael McArthur, Barbara Adams and Ben Runyan. Various industry-leading guest speakers such as Grammy-nominated songwriter Kristal Oliver (Kanye, Justin Timberlake, Estelle, etc) will also run workshops at the camp. 

Music Industry campers do not have to be musicians. 

The Rowan Music Industry Camp has a capped enrollment of 59 students. We will honor paid registrations in the order they are received. After Music Industry Camp is sold out - email musiccamps@rowan.edu to be placed on the waiting list.
