Donated by Mrs. Sherman C. Ward, former member and chairperson of the Board of Trustees, this medallion is awarded for excellence in fine arts performance. Although the award is “housed” in the College of Performing Arts, students in the Department of Art are also eligible for this award.

Criteria:

• Significant accomplishment in a Fine and Performing Arts medium that has resulted in the creation of a work (or works) of art (including musical and theatrical works) and for which the artist has received significant recognition beyond coursework.
• Performance level of the highest standard, equal to that of any young performer/artist in the U.S.
• Consideration given to student’s other contributions to the University and/or community and to academic achievement.
