Biography

Ross Beschler (he/him) has been a professional actor for nearly 20 years, and is a founding member of the Wilma Theatre’s Hothouse Company in Philadelphia. He is also a Hothouse Associate Trainer, and teaches the company techniques in summer sessions and international workshops. (https://wilmatheater.org/artists/hothouse-company/)

Main-stage shows at the Wilma include the US Premiere of Tom Stoppard’s The Hard Problem; the role of Isaac Babel in Rajiv Joseph’s Describe the Night; Robert O’Hara’s staging of his groundbreaking Bootycandy; Theodouros Terzopoulos’ staging of Antigone; Hungarian director / choreographer Csaba Horvath’s staging of Blood Wedding; and an adaptation of Etel Adnan’s epic poem There created by Wilma Artistic Director Blanka Zizka and acclaimed Italian installation artist Rosa Barba for the 2019 Presented Fringe Festival in Philadelphia.

Ross is also a founding member of the site-specific performance collective Die-Cast, and has appeared in many works created by Artistic Director Brenna Geffers, including several digital pieces that are available online. https://www.die-castphilly.org/ 

In addition, Ross has a robust freelance acting career, performing frequently at EgoPo Classic Theatre, InterAct, Theatre Exile, City Theatre, The Flea, and many others.  Film/TV/New Media:  The Flight of the Cardinal, The Jersey Connection, Code Blue, Expired.

He received his BA in Theatre from Columbia University, studied Meisner technique at William Esper Studios in NYC, and earned an MFA in Acting at Temple University. He has taught acting and movement at Temple, the Ira Brind School of the University of the Arts, and Rowan.

Ross is an active member of Actor’s Equity Association, and serves on the AEA Philadelphia Liaison Committee.
