Biography
Joanne Erwin is currently active as a Paul Rolland String Pedagogy scholar serving as the cello specialist in presentations internationally. Summer 2019 and 2021 included the European String Teacher's Conference in England and the University of Illinois Workshop. Participants were from six continents. Through her work on the Paul Rolland String Pedagogy Society board she has helped develop curriculum for an endorsement process and taught courses virtually for a broad range of students. She presents at state and national conferences on the best practices in string playing based on the Paul Rolland action studies.
In New Jersey, Dr. Erwin performs with the Philharmonia of Southern New Jersey and presents recitals at various venues. She maintains an active local presence through a home studio and the Rowan Community Music School. She remains active in the Suzuki community teaching and performing at summer Institutes in Ohio and New Jersey.
At Rowan her Virtual Cello Day in February 2021 was attended by cellists from the area and five different states. She serves as the Sigma Alpha Iota faculty advisor.
