Biography

Shawn Garrone is a professional freelance oboist based in the New Jersey/Philadelphia Area. A proud 2020 graduate of Rowan University, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. Shawn dedicates his time to performing locally, teaching private lessons, and managing ShawnGarroneMusic, one of the most subscribed Oboe Channels on Youtube. Through his channel, he aims to highlight the oboe’s versatility across various music genres to help increase the overall popularity of the oboe.

Shawn’s flexibility as a musician is supported by his role as a substitute teacher across multiple school districts. His performance credits include appearances with the Philadelphia Sinfonia - often at the Kimmel Center’s Verizon Hall - the Orchestra Society of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Wind Symphony, and Rowan University’s Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. Notably, he has also performed at Carnegie Hall with the Atlantic Pops and collaborated with South Korean Studio Sync Project to produce “NOW IS THE TIME”

Shawn Garrone is a regular attendee of the John Mack Oboe Camp, a gathering in which oboe techniques and practices are shared in group and masterclass settings with players from across the globe. His teaching philosophy is deeply influenced by the principles of Marcel Tabuteau, reflecting a commitment to excellence and innovation.

Garrone's expertise extends beyond performance; he is skilled in reed making, arranging music for the oboe by ear, live studio recording, and recreating orchestral pieces using Logic Pro X through midi sequencing. His contributions to music education are equally significant, with all students under his tutelage securing positions in the All South Jersey band and/or orchestra at both middle and high school levels.
