Biography

Dr. Guerrini has spent a fulfilling and happy career in music education. She received her undergraduate degree from Temple University and her Master’s degree at Rowan University. Later, she returned to Temple where she earned a Ph.D. in Music Education.

She has spent her professional life in New Jersey, teaching General Music in K-5 elementary schools, mostly at Evans School in Marlton, and while also serving as the assistant choral director at Cherokee High School. After many years of service in the public schools, Dr. Guerrini became the Chair of Music Education at Rutgers University, Mason Gross School of the Arts, directing the Music Education Program and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. While at Rutgers, Dr. Guerrini was the chief advisor for Doctoral Dissertations in Music Education and was a committee member to several others. Later, she became Chair of Music Education at the College of New Jersey, where she also directed auditions and admissions to the Music Program.

Dr. Guerrini has presented research nationally and internationally, including Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Bologna, Italy, as well as Yale University. Her publications have also appeared in national and international journals, including Journal of Research in Music Education and the International Society of Music Educators’ Journal. Her main interest in research is in singing accuracy and how singers can improve their listening skills to better match pitch.

Dr. Guerrini lives with her musician/conductor husband in Marlton, NJ. They have three sons.
