Biography

Michael Osinski is a director, deviser, and educator based in the Philadelphia area. He has directed and assistant directed extensively throughout the country, including at Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago and the Wilma Theater in Philadelphia. He is a Drama League Directing Fellow, and he assisted Tony Award-winning director Rachel Chavkin at the Old Globe in San Diego, CA, as part of his fellowship.

He has co-created and directed several works with his self-producing collective The Antidote, including Red Lodge, Montana (2019 Philadelphia Fringe Festival), The Celebrity Guide to Mental Health and Wellness (2020 Philadelphia Fringe Festival, 2019 Philadelphia SoLow Fest), and Great Again. Other recent professional directing projects include A Twist of Water for Passage Theatre Company (Trenton, NJ), Bob: A Life in Five Acts and Moth for Azuka Theatre (Philadelphia, PA), and Wolves for Quince Productions (Philadelphia, PA).

For six years he served as the co-founder, Managing Director, and eventually the Producing Artistic Director of Flashpoint Theatre Company in Philadelphia. There he directed six Philadelphia premieres, including Far Away by Caryl Churchill, An Impending Rupture of the Belly by Matt Pelfrey, and Crumble (Lay Me Down, Justin Timberlake) by Sheila Callaghan.

Michael holds an MFA in Directing from The Theatre School at DePaul University in Chicago, IL, and a BA in Theatre Arts from Drew University in Madison, NJ. As an educator, he has taught at both his alma maters, as well as Arcadia University, Drexel University, and Temple University. He has also taught at the National High School Institute at Northwestern University - known as the "Cherubs" program - for 7 summers.
