Biography

Elaine Petrosino Watson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rowan University (Glassboro State College) in applied flute performance and a Master of Science degree from Rosemont College in Non-Profit Management with a concentration in Arts & Culture.  She studied with Dr. Adeline Tomasone (Opera Company of Philadelphia, Davidsbund Players et.al) and the late John Krell (Philadelphia Orchestra). Elaine has been playing the flute for nearly forty years and teaching for almost thirty. Elaine has been on staff with Rowan University’s Community Music School since 2012 and has maintained a private studio since 1990.  Since 1991, she has taught for Conservatory Without Walls in Moorestown, NJ and was on staff for NJ School of Music as well.  She was also on staff of the Community Arts Program for Mullica Hill Friends School from 2010-2015.  Elaine has been a guest facilitator for Rowan University Summer Music Camp(s) and has lead studio recitals and workshops regularly.

Elaine has performed for the former Bach Around the Clock Festival as well as the opening of the Bourse II building both in Philadelphia, PA.  She has played for art openings (Haddonfield, NJ), weddings, parties and was an adjudicator for the Cumberland County Teen Arts Festival in Wheaton Village.  She has been part of the pit orchestra for shows such as:  CarouselThe Beggar’s OperaInto the WoodsThe Mikado and others. 

Elaine worked for the YMCA of Camden County for thirteen years in the areas of child care, program development and was an original member of the Arts & Humanities development team.  Elaine was faculty (trainer of trainers) for the YMCA of the USA, East Field Arts & Humanities Program Coordinator and provided training for YMCA professionals across the east coast with collaborators such as:  the Smithsonian Institute, The Philadelphia Museum of Art and The Children’s Museum of Portland Maine.

Elaine’s playing can be heard regularly at Christ Lutheran Church, Whiting, NJ, St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church, Cherry Hill and is currently a member of the Pinelands Symphonic Band based out of Ocean County, NJ.
