Biography

Lyric tenor Jonathan Price is gaining international recognition for his "nuanced performances" and "brilliant timbre." Mr. Price appears frequently as a soloist in opera, oratorio, and recital throughout the US and Europe. As an opera singer, he has performed 12 professional roles. Recent roles include Lenski in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, Rodolfo in Puccini's La Boheme, Ferrando in Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte, and Male Chorus in Britten's Rape of Lucretia (later broadcast on PBS). He has professionally recorded the tenor solo for Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 (Ars Musica), Abraham in Britten's Canticle No. 2 "Abraham and Isaac" and Winter Words (Opera Brittenica). Mr. Price has performed solo recitals internationally with the Lav Mirski festival in Osijek, Croatia and in the US for Mobile Opera, Westminster Choir College, and several other educational institutions/universities throughout the country. He has appeared as a soloist in such prestigious venues as the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, Boston's Jordan Hall, and New York City's Symphony Space.

Mr. Price balances a full performing career with a vibrant voice studio. Current and former students have appeared in leading roles on Broadway, on National Tours, and in regional theaters across the US and Europe. Mr. Price currently serves as an adjunct voice professor for the musical theater programs at Marymount Manhattan College and Rowan University, and is a Priority Adjunct professor of voice for the musical theater program at Rider University. Mr. Price also serves as the Assistant Director for Westminster Choir College's Voice Pedagogy Institute.   Mr. Price serves as an associate voice instructor for the Performer's Career Center in New York City, where he works with professional and aspiring commercial, musical theater, and classical students. With PCC, he presents a weekly lecture series in the SoHo neighborhood of Manhattan. He is the President of the New Jersey chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, as well as a Deputy Province Governor for Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia music fraternity. He recently co-presented research on the relative primo-passaggio points and speaking fundamental frequencies of musical theater and classical undergraduate female students at the voice foundation in Philadelphia. Mr. Price holds a Master of Music and Performance Studies Certificate in Voice Performance from Boston Conservatory and Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
