Biography

Mimi Laws is the Social Media, Marketing, and Development Assistant at the Rowan Community Music School. As part of the University of Richmond’s Class of 2022, Mimi Laws is majoring in Leadership Studies and minoring in Business Administration. Studying at the Jepson School of Leadership Studies, Mimi is learning to apply this knowledge to the arts, culture, and education. She has a strong passion for music as has played the viola and participated in a number of different ensembles over the course of 11 years. Some of her more recent ensembles include the University of Richmond Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Ensembles. Through the University’s Bonner Scholars Program, Mimi has been working as an intern for the Richmond Symphony’s Education Office since January 2019. Since the founding of their virtual Richmond Symphony School of Music, she has played a role in researching learning management software, facilitating classes, and assisting students and faculty. Her passion for music and education drives her aspirations to learn more about management within the performing arts industry, and how to best advocate for a diverse range of culture and arts within the community. Mimi truly believes that giving all students a creative outlet for self-expression through mediums such as the fine arts is crucial to development and a well-rounded education.
