Biography

Thomas Reynolds joined the faculty at Rowan University in 2017. A versatile performer, he has held the position of Assistant Principal Bassoon of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra since 2015 and was Co-Principal Bassoon in the United States Coast Guard Band from 2011 to 2017.   While with the Coast Guard Band, he performed with the United States Coast Guard Woodwind Quintet, frequently performing in Washington, D.C. for Congressional and military functions. He has also performed as guest bassoonist with several professional orchestras, including the Rhode Island Philharmonic.

Mr. Reynolds has a passion for bassoon pedagogy, and has held a private studio since 2004. He previously served on the faculty of the Hartt School Community Division at the University of Hartford. He holds a Master’s Degree in Bassoon Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a dual Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and Bassoon Performance from the University of Michigan. His bassoon instructors include William Winstead, Jeffrey Lyman, Richard Beene, and Robert Williams.
